Zeigler, Clark

Born on September 27, 1842, in Columbiana County, Ohio, Ziegler enlisted as a private in Company A, 22nd Missouri Infantry on November 1, 1861, in Macon City, Missouri. Company A was transferred to the 7th Missouri Cavalry and became Company H of that regiment in February 1862.

Ziegler reenlisted in January 1864, and was promoted to corporal and transferred to Company L, 1st Missouri Cavalry that December.

The 7th fought guerrillas in Missouri, and participated in the 1862 Battle of Prairie Grove, the 1863 Little Rock campaign, and in General Frederick Steele’s 1864 Camden Expedition.

Ziegler was mustered out of service on September 1, 1865. He died in Kirksville, Missouri, on December 20, 1932.
