Mr. John Bonner

Dear Sir

Enclosed please find a sketch representing the encampments of the Divisions of Major General Hunter & General Asboth at Tipton on the P. R. Road. The army have numbers of 10000 men.

General Fremont has been here since the 9th inst and broke up camp this morning and is now moving toward Sycamore.

The troops here are likewise breaking up camp and moving….

General Hunter’s division was part of Major General John C. Fremont’s army in the fall of 1861. Fremont captured Springfield, Missouri, in late October, but was soon relieved of command due to difficulties with the Lincoln administration. Hunter assumed command of Fremont’s troops and withdrew from Springfield.
