John T. Brady (also listed as Bradey) enlisted as a private in the 15th Iowa on January 20, 1862, at Keokuk, Iowa; he was severely wounded in the right side at the Battle of Corinth, Mississippi, on October 3, 1862. Brady re-enlisted as a veteran volunteer on January 21, 1864, and was promoted to corporal on February 1, 1865. He was discharged and mustered out on July 24, 1865.
