Michael Mack of Kansas City, Missouri, enlisted on May 28, 1861 in Company B, 1st Kansas Infantry, and was mustered into service as a corporal on June 3, 1861. He was promoted to first sergeant on September 1, 1861, to first lieutenant on July 27, 1862, and to captain and company commander on February 21, 1864.
The 1st Kansas Infantry was organized from May 20 to June 3, 1861, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; they fought at Dug Springs, Wilson’s Creek, and in various scouts and expeditions in Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
Mack was mustered out on August 30, 1865.
